Our Mission

What is NAMC?

The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) is the oldest and largest minority-owned construction industry trade association in the United States founded in Oakland, CA in 1969 by Ray Dones and Joseph Debro. NAMC, founded to address the needs and concerns of minority contractors, currently has 23 chapters across the country, including our Wisconsin chapter, NAMC-WI, which was established in 1994. NAMC-WI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation that serves diverse-owned businesses in the state of Wisconsin.

 

While membership is open to people of all races and ethnic backgrounds, the organization’s mandate, “Building Bridges – Crossing Barriers,” focuses on construction industry concerns common to African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans.

 

NAMC supports minority contractors for maximized contract procurement opportunities and advocates for a level playing field by working with government officials, legislative policies, programs and the private sector, along with other industry stakeholders.

Advocacy

We will continue to nurture relationships with private sector organizations like NCNMSDC and the billion dollar round table and advocate/mediate as a third party for our member firms in situations where issues and concerns need to be resolved.

Education

We provide educational information via a variety of channels including our monthly board meetings, signature networking events, conferences, and capacity building trainings.

NAMC_WI_procurement
Procurement

We disseminate information about upcoming projects through in-person and digital communication and through networking opportunities with contractors, owners (public and private), developers, and chambers of commerce.

NAMC-WI 10th Annual Construction Industry Business to Business Forum

National Association of Minority Contractors – Wisconsin held the 10th Annual Construction Industry Business to Business Forum on November 11, 2025, at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee, WI.

This milestone event featured panel discussions on the region’s largest construction projects, education and networking, along with one-on-one business matchmaker sessions with top construction project executives and diverse contractors.
